MA Urban Design
Semester 1
Masterplanning To Public Realm
MAsterplan Report
During this part of the module, I worked with my team to produce a design & access statement for two sites in Oxford (Osney Mead & Oxpens) which together will form part of the new west end of Oxford.

Public Realm Design
The second assignment for this module directly follows on from the DAS where I selected three blocks from the masterplan to detail in 1:500 and 1:200. This included a refined vision for my area, altering the existing block structure and floor plans showing the relationship of buildings to the public realm.

Contemporary Approaches to urban design
MAsterplan Report
This module involved weekly lectures and workshops about a topic. This assignment was about further expanding on one of these topics by conducting our own research to answer the question.

MAsterplan Report
The second assignment for this module involved producing a workbook around the topic which was delivered during the weekly lectures and workshops. This involved adding in notes from the lectures along with the exercises completed during the workshops.

Semester 2
Urban Design in challenging Contexts
MAsterplan Report
The initial assessment centred around selecting sites outside of the UK and from this I worked with my team we produce Masterplan for our site located near the Creek in Dubai. We dealt with the challenges of temperature and Dubai's vernacular identity among others.

Research
For this assignment, we were tasked to conduct a site visit and analysis of a high-density development in London and I chose to look at London City Island. In our group, we used a variety of analysis techniques on the site to provide insight that can be used on our following project.

further Design
From the initial masterplan developed for our site in Dubai, I chose three blocks to design in greater detail, as a continuation of our initial proposal. I chose to highlight the theme of Ecology due to unique opportunities for its implementation on the site as a key feature.

International Urban Design Theories for Design and Planning
Topic Essay
Each week we covered various urban design theories that can be applied to sites and how they can achieve design objectives. In my case, I chose mobility as a topic and applied this to Amsterdam, which highlighted a lack of policy-making over time that led to a decrease in liveability.

Workbook
This workbook displays the various topics covered within the module each week followed by the individual and group workshops which took place as a way of testing and understanding these theories within a practical setting.

Research Methods in design
Dissertation Plan
This work forms the basis for the later design dissertation, I began researching topic areas with research gaps that could provide a question for my research paper. I narrowed down to the topic of temporary urbanism and its role within the planning system.

Semester 3
Design Dissertation
Research Paper
In my paper, I research the role that temporary urbanism can play within structured planning approaches and how it can be used within masterplanning. The paper follows previous research on the topic but delves deeper into developing a framework for its integration which is then evaluated against case studies and then viewed by members of the urban design community for feedback.
