Work Experience
Summer 2015
At the end of the 2015 school year, I undertook a week's placement to gain work experience at the consultancy firm ARUP in their Dubai office. I undertook several rotations through key departments to experience the company and how it operated. These included: Sustainability, Urban Planners, Master planners and Transport planners. Although I was quite young then, this experience pushed me toward my current career path and encouraged me to pursue a degree in this field.
Summer Internship - Deloitte Consulting
June-September 2019
I completed a work placement with Deloitte, working on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects HS2. I was involved with numerous aspects of the project including project controls and project management. During this time I learnt about data analysis and the use of Excel to present dashboards which update with real-time information. It was an extremely valuable and enjoyable experience and being able to work with such a high-profile client has allowed me to build on my skill set. It has given me valuable new skills and knowledge about working in a high-pressure environment, with communication being a crucial factor when understanding what the client is asking for and then being able to deliver this.
Education
Clifton College
2016-2018
When I moved back to the UK after the summer of 2016 I attended Clifton College in Bristol, where I studied Geography, Design Technology and Physical Education. I also attended school as a boarding student which helped me to build up my independence and I really enjoyed my experiences and the skills I was able to develop. This was the initial point at which point I started to develop my use of software and CAD. I was also involved in an architecture competition for the redevelopment of a small parcel of land called the Bear Pit in Bristol. This gave me my first taste of Urban Design as we conducted a site visit, and analysis of the area and worked as a team to produce a model of our proposal which was then presented in a crit to teachers and students.
Oxford Brookes University
2018 - 2023
I achieved an undergraduate degree in urban design, planning, and development from Oxford Brookes University. Following on from my undergraduate degree, I continued to complete the MA Urban Design course to build upon my theoretical knowledge of the built environment and its application within real design sites, which have been tested in both a national and international context.
